City of Toronto Accepting Applications for Heritage Conservation Grant Program

The City of Toronto is accepting applications for the 2026 Toronto Heritage Grant Program, offering matching funds to support eligible conservation work on designated heritage properties.

If you own a property in Cabbagetown that is designated under Part IV (individual designation) or Part V (Heritage Conservation District designation) of the Ontario Heritage Act—including those in any of our five Heritage Conservation Districts:

  • Cabbagetown-Metcalfe HCD
  • Cabbagetown North HCD
  • Cabbagetown Northwest HCD
  • Cabbagetown South HCD
  • Cabbagetown Southwest HCD

—you may be eligible to apply.

The program provides matching funding for approved conservation work on properties classified as residential or tax-exempt for property tax purposes. Properties classified as commercial or industrial do not qualify for this grant, but may be eligible for the City’s Heritage Property Tax Rebate Program instead.

Why This Matters for Cabbagetown
Many of our neighbourhood’s distinctive homes and buildings require ongoing upkeep to preserve their historic character. The Heritage Grant Program is an excellent opportunity for owners to offset the costs of authentic restoration—whether it’s repairing original wood windows, restoring period masonry, or replacing historically accurate roofing materials.
