CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS
The name will be the Cabbagetown Heritage Conservation District Advisory Committee (CHCDAC).
OBJECTIVES
- To promote Cabbagetown’s Heritage Conservation Districts (HCDs);
- To assist property owners seeking information on heritage matters related to the HCD Plan and the Ontario heritage Act;
- To assist property owners in finding conservation information and resources;
- To provide comments to City of Toronto Heritage Preservation Services staff on heritage permit applications for properties within the HCD;
- To refer to the objectives, policies and guidelines of the HCD plan;
- To ensure that the comments and assistance to HPS staff reflect the unique perspective on the significance and character of each individual HCD;
- To resolve with City of Toronto HPS staff specific issues with property owners as they arise, consistent with the HCD plan and the Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada;
- To bring to the attention of HPS staff development activity or heritage preservation issues that are of concern.
MEMBERSHIP
The Committee membership will be comprised of local residents within the HCD who support the HCD Plan and the objectives and policies of the HCD, and who can provide services on a voluntary basis.
The Committee members will operate in a manner consistent with the City of Toronto’s Heritage Conservation District Advisory Committee Terms of Reference, the City of Toronto’s Conflict of Interest Policy and adhere to confidentiality matters where applicable.
MEETINGS OF THE COMMITTEE
An annual meeting of members shall be held in January of every year on such day as the members shall determine to elect members and a Chair and Vice-Chair. The term of office is for one year renewable annually. Members and a Chair and Vice-Chair may be appointed at other times where necessary.
Notice of meetings shall be given no less than seven days prior to the meeting; such notice may be delivered by any combination of the following means: email and telephone. In usual circumstances the Committee will meet eight to ten times per year but may, at the discretion of the Chair meet more often, if necessary.
At all meetings the approval of the agenda shall be decided upon by consensus and members may in advance request that certain items be placed on the agenda.
